Blurb:
As a teenager, Robert McKinnon left his native Scotland and moved to America. That was sixteen years ago, and Professor McKinnon has never quite settled in his new home or found his place this side of the pond. He might be prematurely old, but he has his cat, and his books, and that's all he needs.

Then Chris Ford explodes into Robert's life with a crash of cymbals. The younger man is the polar opposite of Robert's calm civility. Bright tattoos cover his skin, and he wears his hair in a Mohawk and plays drums for a rock band. But he's a shot of color in Robert's black-and-white world, and Robert turns out to be the one thing Chris can count on. Despite all the reasons it shouldn't work, somehow it does.

Even if Robert wasn't looking for love—especially not with someone nearly ten years his junior—he can't deny being with Chris is fun. But sometimes Chris's free-spirited nature leaves Robert feeling vulnerable. If they can't find a balance between tattoos and teacups, their relationship won't survive—and neither will Robert's new found lust for life.

Review:
Man, I enjoyed reading Tattoos and Teacups a great deal. It was a light fun story of two people falling in love without the added drama that can be found in so many books.

Professor Robert McKinnon life is pretty easy going. He has a job he loves, his little apartment he adores and he is somewhat happy with it all. After leaving his home country of Scotland and moving to the states, Rob feels as if he has never quite found his niche, hasn’t adapted to life in America like his family has. Being gay on top of it has him somewhat put out, but he has made a life for himself and is content with it all, until he meets sexy tattooed Chris. Who bursts into his life like a tornado, and makes Rob realize that he might have been missing his perfect thing after all.

Chris and Rob could be classified as being different as night and day, but the men have so very much in common. With Chris tattooed biker boy image, and Rob the intellectual how could they possibly make a relationship work? It does work, and it works splendidly! Tattoos and Teacups is a very light read, without the complications of drama and unnecessary angst. While it’s very sweet, there is a lot of sexy, and Chris/Rob together really puts a smile on my face.

As much as I really enjoyed reading this one, I had few WTF the moments that really didn’t settle quite well in my heart. I was very confused by the timeline in the book. I thought Chris and Rob had been dating for months, but it turned out to be only a couple of weeks. That might not be necessarily a bad thing, but it did leave me questioning the authenticity of their feelings for each other. This other little quibble might be considered a spoiler, so proceed with caution. I did not buy Rob’s dive into getting his first tattoo, it didn’t really go with his character for a spur of the moment kind of thing. I would have believed it more, if it were a planned thing. I guess it’s to show off his new lease on life, but it had the reverse affect on me.

Overall, I really did enjoy reading this one; it’s light, fun, and uncomplicated. Perfect if you are looking for a fun read with a very happy ending. There’s some adorable kid time that had me smiling my ass off, but also left me cringing *gots to read to find out*. I look forward to reading more from Ms Martin.

SideNote- That cover is awesmazing.
